The St. Stephen's Finance Committee is a small group of individuals appointed by the Pastor to monitor parish finances to ensure that sufficient funds are available to operate the parish and its charitable initiatives. The committee acts as an advisor to the Pastor to ensure that principles of sound accounting and fiscal management are followed. Within any parish, the topic of finances can sometimes be stressful; however, parishioners do need to be kept informed about the financial status of their parish. The work of the Finance Committee takes place mainly “behind the scenes.” Ffrom time to time representatives of the Committee have prepared submissions for the weekly bulletin or made presentations to the Parish about contribution levels. The committee’s most important task each year is to prepare the financial statements for the parish and then to present those statements at the Annual General Meeting. |
